I have no idea how it came to be that Eliza, the foxiest, sexiest, hottest, coolest girl in school would even deem to look at me, much less agree to watch a movie with me! Oh, lucky lucky me.

You see, I have never gone on a date. Well, when my classmates go out, I am invited. It is not that I am a shy, quiet type. It’s just that I am not a gorgeous hunk nor a brilliant arty type. I am just another middle-of-the-road kind of guy.

So, tonight’s the night. I finally have my dream date. My first real date. A single date. And, it is with a gorgeous, to-die-for, girl of my dreams.

It’s now five. I am supposed to meet her at seven. It’s alright, I like to be early. Be prepared, you know.

There she was. I picked her up in my car at the corner of the street near her house. I wonder why

So, he asked, and I agreed.

It got off to a good start. I got myself a new dress, great reason to go shopping – first date you know! He was in a spiffy suit, a really dashing young man, I must say!

He chose a nice French restaurant. Wonderful choice. It was downhill from there.

First, the soup. Dainty little me, finished my soup. I put down my spoon, and he politely asked, “Are you done with that?”. I was. He reached over, took the plate and slurped up what was left! Oh, my!

It’s alright I guess. Young man, growing, muscles, he needed to eat. I get it.

After dinner, just as the check came, he smiled at me (oh so sweetly) and said “Let’s split the check.”

I took it. Really. I was expecting a romantic swirl across town after that.

- We ended up in the arcade playing video games. Me in a dress and he in a suit – duh.
- Thirsty? He brought me over to McDonald’s

Result?

We got married 2 years ago.

3. Pick up a card table and chairs. Get together a white tablecloth, candles, some crystal and white china, and call the nicest restaurant you know to see if they’ll give you food to take with you. Add an excellent bottle of wine. Put it all in the car, pick up your spouse, and drive out to a romantic spot to watch the sunset. You can have a perfect and civilized dinner, and then when the sun is gone, light the candles and talk until they burn all the way down. Reliving the incident and recalling the words that you said, admitting that you were a quick trigger will help your partner understand that you regret saying it in the first place. Talk about your apology and even impose some sort of penalty of sorts will also go a long ways for your credibility and sincerity in the matter.
